Viivy - Habitare Design Competition, 2014

Viivy, or Linger, is a collapsible outdoor canopy. The design seeks to enhance the best qualities of a picnic: the spontaneity, the joy of being outdoors, and gathering with friends in an informal fashion. In addition to providing a versatile and collapsible structure, the aim of the project is to prolong the moment, to make it linger, understood both in literal and in metaphorical sense.
The blanket was manufactured using luminous sailing cloth: absorbing sunlight during the day, the blanket continues to illuminate the party once the sun has gone down, retaining the memory of the day as a visual footprint. Chosen as a finalist in the annual Habitare Design Competition, a prototype of Viivy was produced and exhibited for the public during the Habitare Interior, Design and Furniture Fair.
